Summer at Mont Grand-Fonds smells like spruce! Put on your hiking boots and come take a breath of fresh air surrounded by trees and mountains. All of this is less than a 15-minute drive from La Malbaie.
Three trails are available :
1 – Opt for the ascent of La Sommet (intermediate level). This magnificent trail in the western sector of the mountain culminates at the Gravel Lake Lookout. More experienced hikers can combine this trail with La Trappeur. Or for a faster return home, take the La Familiale trail.
2 - Another option is to ascend directly via an alpine ski slope on the La Familiale trail (easy level). Bring a picnic and enjoy lunch directly at the top of the mountain or beside the beautiful Gravel Lake Lookout.
3 – Are you looking for a more difficult trail and a slightly more challenging hike? Then La Trappeur is for you. This path is in the eastern sector of the mountain. You can complete the hike in a round trip or combine it with La Sommet and descend back to your starting point.
With an altitude of 735 meters, the mountain offers a vertical drop of 335 meters and a panoramic view of the river as well as the Laurentian Mountain range. Mont Grand-Fonds regional park can boast of having one of the most beautiful views in Quebec! There is no doubt that our jewel of nature will charm you.
